Despite an 18.38% drop in India's sugar production to 25.74 million tonnes by mid-May, closing stocks are projected at 4.8-5 million tonnes, sufficient for domestic demand through November 2025. The NFCSF anticipates a production rebound next season due to better monsoon and increased cane sowing. They also urge the government to raise the minimum selling price and support ethanol production.
